The complete course that democratizes embedded machine-learning for artificial intelligence

SAN JOSE, California – February 8, 2021 – Edge Impulse, the leading development platform for machine learning on edge devices, today announced a new Coursera course called Introduction to Embedded Machine Learning

Edge Impulse partnered with Arduino, Arm and the tinyML Foundation in the effort. The course will teach developers everywhere how to help embedded systems make predictions and decisions based on data and learn from experiences, including the design and deployment of algorithms, software frameworks, and embedded machine learning models on real-world hardware. Taking the course will give developers hands-on knowledge to build and run deep neural networks and other complex machine learning algorithms on low-power devices without any prior experience. From the vocabulary necessary to understand the fundamentals of machine learning to demonstrations and projects, this new course is designed as a hands-on program that is easily approachable.

“Embedded machine learning applications power every modern aspect of our modern life. From Siri to fitness wearables, space rovers to medical implants, you will find tiny instructions embedded on micronized hardware that delivers magical and important experiences,” said Zach Shelby, CEO and co-founder of Edge Impulse. “Our philosophy is to enable any developer to use Machine Learning to build better products while making it easier for them to get started and be successful. Our Coursera course is an important piece of our journey and mission, and we hope to reach millions of developers so we can help better the products and capabilities they focus on.”

The course is available free for developers worldwide, with an optional certification for those who wish to become embedded machine learning experts. Participants will enjoy a discounted price of the Nordic Semiconductor-powered Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense as the hardware platform for which the course was designed.

“Finding purpose and passion is fundamental to both learning and living,” said Fabio Violante, CEO of Arduino. “We have more opportunities than ever before to augment our home, work, and personal environments with intelligent and connected devices, and the learning challenge now and for future generations is to develop and enhance this new category of purposeful products. Embedded machine learning is at the core of our connected future and Arduino is pleased to be working with Edge Impulse, Arm and tinyml.org on bringing this course to life.”
