Angelenos finally get some good news as Athenessa LA Gallery, a new contemporary art gallery opened in La Brea Avenue. Athenessa LA is a spacious and modern gallery located at the heart of LA that houses celebrated modern artwork from distinguished contemporary artists.

“Our mission is to make quality contemporary art accessible to everyone,” said Athenessa LA owner Vanessa Virag. The new art gallery boasts of an impressive collection of both high-end and affordable artworks curated by Virag herself.

Athenessa LA represents and manages internationally renowned artists such as Aurèle Ricard, better known by his creative pseudonym of Aurèle LostDog, German multimedia artist Annina Roescheisen, Paris-based street artist Artiste Ouvrier, French painter Xavier Deshoulières, French artist Virginie Caillet, Kenyan artist Dennis Muraguri and french artist Yassine Mekhnache whose work has raised a lot of attention lately in the art world.

Despite the temporary closing of several business establishments as a result of the stay-at-home order in LA County in an attempt to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Virag remains confident that the situation will improve soon.

“Some will tell me that these are very strange times to open a new business, especially an art gallery while galleries are trying to survive all over the world, others that I am totally insane, but I am very optimistic and hopeful that things will get better very soon. In my opinion there is no better time to acknowledge the human need of art in these difficult moments,” said Virag, who is herself a portrait artist and interior designer.

“Even though the virus has been pretty effective in shutting things down around us, the arts can ground us in a way that nothing else can. Art connects us meaningfully even when we are apart. Art making is also an act of hope during these uncertain times and that is why we want to keep supporting artists by showing the outstanding work of the many talented ones we represent at the gallery,” added Virag.

Athenessa LA also recently announced the launching of its online store Athenessa LA Factory, where contemporary arts aficionados can purchase from a wide variety of affordable modern artworks like fine art prints, original paintings and drawings, photographs, stencils, apparel, and collector games among others, with prices that range from “$35 to $3500.” The online store ships worldwide, and offers free shipping on domestic orders of over $100.
